Huvila Buganvilia

"We stayed in Villa Buganvilia for 1 week in June. As a group of 11 its always hard to keep everyone happy but here we had it all - table tennis, pool table and BBQ for the boys, a huge swimming pool and beautiful gardens for the girls, and more than enough space for 11 plus more!! The interior feels luxurious and roomy and the surrounding area, albeit a tad rural, had plenty to offer. The beach is about a ten minute walk, but be warned - the sea is rather cold! The villa is about a 20 minute drive from Lisbon so there's plenty to do close by. I would recommend hiring a car as most things (except the beach and supermarket) are a short drive away. There are some lovely beaches up in Cascais, Estoril is particularly nice. Or if you fancy some sightseeing, head to Sintra to see the Castle of the Moors (but be prepared to walk up hill!). We'd all like to say a big thank you to Yves who greeted us on the first night (very late as our plane was delayed) and who told us about all the great restaurants nearby. He was a great host and made our stay even better. "

"Large delightful villa, with enormous grounds for children to play in. Villa was well equipped, with little touches such as buckets and spades for the little ones being very helpful. Table Tennis and Pool Table got well used, and the terrific large swimming pool was always in use. Our welcome was perfect and the cleaning/gardening/etc over the 2 weeks was unobtrusive and good. One local restaurant (at golf club) was well priced and good - all others needed transport. My two tips would be to ensure that you have transport to get to the busy beach (it is walkable, but a big hill on the way back), and dont pre-book surfing, as the local waves are fun but not really for surfing on. "Perfect property for our family summer holiday - the 2 of us + 2 families with 4 grandchildren. We loved the roominess of the villa, the large garden, the covered barbecue area (a real bonus) and the large pool. We knew the area from being there last year - it is not the most sophisticated part of Portugal but had everything we needed - good beaches, perfectly adequate restaurants, golf - and no Brits! The edges of the garden need tidying up, we could have done with more outdoor seating - perhaps cushions for the built in seats - and would have been nice to have terrace furniture upstairs on the balconies, and the 2 bikes mentioned in the advert were missing - so some tlc needed. Having said all that we had the most fantastic two weeks and would definitely book the villa again and, indeed, hope to do so. "
